The Emperor Sea Strider is an enormous bipedalien from the Amoebic Sea of Darwin IV. It is easily the largest of the planet's creatures. Their young are capable of flight. It was first seen in a Yma faster-than-light satellite image (S.I.848.28) that launched the First Darwinian Expedition of Darwin IV in 2355.

The Emperor Sea Strider is an immense life form from the book Expedition by Wayne Douglas, Barlowe, and the Discovery Channel special Alien Planet. In the book and movie, they live in and around the region known as the Amoebic Sea, not actually a sea at all, but in fact a vast symbiotic colony of animals who trap water inside their bodies.

The Emperor Sea Strider, one of the largest creatures in all of pure spec evo, in Expedition, they can reach up to 189 meters. In Alien Planet, they are smaller though, reaching up to 21 m. In the measurements described in the book, it can make redwoods and sequoias look like mere farm plants.

The Alien Planet adaptation notably downsizes both the Groveback and Sea Strider considerably (and leaves out the Flipstick entirely). Not even mentioned is the Ebony Blisterwing, which is described as having a wingspan over 300 meters, and somehow kept aloft by a few bubbles on its wings.
